Several Fires Keep Brookhaven Town Firefighters Busy Over Christmas: Police

No one was hurt, Suffolk police say.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Area firefighters were kept busy the past few days, responding to fires across Brookhaven Town, Suffolk police said.

Firefighters were called to a location on Greenbelt Parkway in Holbrook at around 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve over a report of smoke coming from a wall, according to police. The Holbrook Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire, police said.

A small chimney fire broke out at a home on Apple Lane in Medford just before 1 p.m. on Christmas, police said, adding that the town fire marshal's office was on scene and advised the structure was okay for occupancy.

Another fire broke out at a home on Masonic Avenue in Holtsville just before 8 p.m., and everyone inside was able to escape to safety, police said.

No one was hurt in the fires, and Arson Squad detectives did not respond.
