Over 100 protesters came out to gather in front of the Central Islip courthouse prior to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions' visit on April 28, according to a report in Newsday. The group protested Sessions' visit, chanting things such as “Sessions go home, no hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here," and "Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcome here."

Hearts Broken As Community Mourns A Friend
Hearts were broken in Southold as word spread that Stanley J. Zurek, Sr., affectionately known as Stosh, died on April 25. He was 80 years old. Zurek, who lived in Peconic, was a familiar and beloved presence at the Southold Town transfer station's reuse center on Cox Lane in Cutchogue, greeting visitors with a smile and a laugh, sharing stories and memories.
Wantagh Man Sexually Abused Campers At Long Island Day Camp
A counselor at a Long Island day camp who lives and works in Wantagh was arrested Monday for sexually abusing campers, Suffolk Police say. He is the camp's second employee to face sex abuse charges in recent months. According to authorities, Jay Marcello, 25, endangered the welfare of the campers and disseminated indecent material to minors while working at Kenwal Day Camp, located at 100 Drexel Ave. in Melville.
Kings Park Resident Named Woman Of Distinction
A Kings Park woman was recently recognized as the 2017 Woman of Distinction for the 13th Legislative District. Rose Mangogna, was selected by Legislator Rob Trotta as the 2017 Woman of Distinction for the his Legislative District, which covers Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor and St. James as well as portions of Commack and East Northport.
Woman Drove High On Drugs With Her 5 Kids In Minivan
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on a felony DWI charge after State Police say she drove while impaired by drugs with her five children in her minivan Saturday evening. According to police, a trooper on patrol on the westbound Southern State Parkway, east of Belmont Avenue in North Babylon, observed a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country move from its lane unsafely around 6:40 p.m.
