Lynn Freitag Jordan, Retired Mount Sinai School Nurse, Dies At 80

Lifelong Long Island resident remembered as "a consummate community volunteer."

MOUNT SINAI, NY — Lynn Freitag Jordan, a retired Mount Sinai school nurse, died on Nov. 3. She was 80 years old.

Born on Feb. 5, 1941 in Mineloa, Lynn married G. Douglas Jordan in 1961, and the couple initially lived in Port Jefferson, where their daughter Phyllis was born. They later moved to Mount Sinai, where they welcomed two more daughters, Katherine and Elizibeth. .

Lynn completed her nursing degree in 1962 from the Bellevue School of Nursing at NYU. She served on local PTSA, Suffolk County Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and was a founding member of the Mount Sinai Friends of the Arts. She also served on the Board of Education in Mount Sinai.

“Lynn was a consummate community volunteer who worked tirelessly throughout her life to make the lives of the young people in her community better,” reads an obituary to her on the website of Branch Funeral Homes.

Lynn is survived by her three daughters, granddaughter Emily, and sister Cynthia Freitag.
