Man Leads Police On Sunrise Highway Chase In Stolen Dump Truck

A 31-year-old man was arrested after Suffolk Police were able to stop the truck Monday afternoon on a Sunrise Highway service road.

A 31-year-old man was arrested after he fled from police in a stolen dump truck Monday afternoon, police said.

Anthony Bruno, of Lake Grove, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and third degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer.

According to police, a 2009 Ford dump truck, owned by Port Jefferson Village, was taken from the rear of Port Jefferson Village Hall located at 121 West Broadway at about 2:10 p.m.

The vehicle was located traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway by Fifth Precinct officers who began to follow the truck, police said. Officers from Highway Patrol, Third Precinct, First Precinct and Aviation also responded.

The truck was stopped around 2:50 p.m. on the Sunrise Highway Service Road near Hubbards Path in West Babylon where Bruno was taken into custody. The investigation is continuing, police said.
