Outlining the dealership plan Tuesday at the Comsewogue Public Library, Rivera told Newsday he would be involved in running the dealership, which will bear his name, when it opens.
Following the presentation, the board members voted to send a letter to the Town of Brookhaven with no objections to the project.
The store Rivera and his partners want to buy is currently the North Shore Certified car dealership at 1435 Route 112.

The store, which is 6,425 square feet, sits on an 8.1-acre site, according to site plans.
Rivera's proposal would expand the building by over 30 percent and build a new 50,000-square-foot facility and storage for 353 vehicles.
