New Deli Coming To Port Jefferson Marina
The deli, located at 156 West Broadway, will serve sandwiches, bagels, salads, and more.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A new deli will soon grace the horizon at Port Jefferson's marina.
In a conversation with Patch, Mayor Margot Garant confirmed that the sale of 156 West Broadway was officially closed by Port Jefferson residents who intend to turn the building into a food business.
"They're wildly successful and have large clientele, but they're just down to earth and great residents who want to help beautify Port Jeff," she said.

Garant said that the building was previously a deli, but the first floor has been dormant for about four or five years. However, tenants have lived in its second-floor apartment.
The new owners of the building, who wish to remain private, began the closing process in January 2021, Garant said. Since then, the site has undergone multiple approvals, by the Port Jefferson town board in November, 2021 and Suffolk County Board of Health in 2022.

Garant told Patch that the renovations will take place mainly inside the building, to provide a full-service deli that will offer sandwiches, salads, and more.
"It will be a complete renovation of the building as it currently exists," said Garant. "It's going to be absolutely stunning."
While the owners are still looking for a deli partner, building renovations should be completed by early 2023, she said.

Many Port Jefferson residents have positively reacted to the news, Garant said. Located right on the marina, a deli is one thing the community has longed for, she added.
"All those people that are going out on fishing boat tours, they would be going there and buying ice and sandwiches," she said. "It will be so refreshing that (residents) don't have to get up the hill for a traditional bagel."
The owners has not yet responded to comment.
"They're thrilled to bring something back that's going to serve as the residents," Garant said. "So that I think this is a win-win for everybody."
