Port Jeff Mayor Margot J. Garant Wins Re-election

The Port Jefferson incumbent fended off former Suffolk County Republican Chair John Jay LaValle to win re-election.

Port Jefferson Mayor Margot J. Garant on Tuesday defeated former Suffolk County Republican Chair John Jay LaValle to win re-election.

Garant, 54, who won her sixth two-year term, defeated LaValle, 1,454-992.

Incumbent trustee Stan Loucks and newcomer Kathianne—both Garant running mates—defeated Tom Meehan and Tracy Stapleton. Meehan and Stapleton both ran on LaValle's ticket.

LaValle, 51, is a former Brookhaven Town supervisor. He led the Suffolk County GOP for 10 years.
