- Three cars were stolen straight out of the driveways in Fort Solonga. The vehicles were stolen by three different thieves at the same day and time on Monday. Police tracked one of the cars and found it in New Jersey. Investigators said they used a key fob inside the cars that use a keyless start. Anyone with any information on the thefts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. (News12)
- Port Jefferson School District students are making the difference with a candle sale fundraiser. The profits will be donated to a Sayville-based organization that provides free of cost therapeutic assistance for individuals who have lost someone to suicide or overdose. (Patch)
- Police detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Commack bank the afternoon of Dec. 12. A man entered Chase Bank around 1 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, then he fled in an unknown direction. The robber is described as an adult male, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and hat and a blue face mask. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential. (TBRNews)
- Stony Brook University students performed classic Christmas songs for patients at Children's Hospital. The Children had a chance to hear their favorite Christmas songs performed by SBU carolers. Daria Carioscia, development officer for the Staller Center of the Arts, said with the help of funding from Island Federal, the organization was able to continue its music outreach, "The Instrument Petting Zoo" program. (Greater Long Island)
- A 5K race, hosted by the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation, is schedule for March 26. The event will honor the memory of a Wading River Boy Scout, Andrew McMorris, who died in 2018 after he and his troop were struck by a drunk driver while hiking in Manorville. (RiverheadLOCAL)
