- After Connecticut’s lobster industry closure 20 years ago, federal funding was approved to begin removing lobster traps left on the floor of the Long Island Sound. The traps are still killing marine life and the approval of $569,000 in federal grants will finance the plan to hire local fishermen to remove an initial 3,000 traps over two years. - The Port Jefferson Hope House Ministries received the Jaspan Schlesinger Heart of Community Award for its work and commitment to serving the Long Island community. The Award is being distributed as part of the law firm's 75th Anniversary celebration, according to a recent press release. (Press Release Desk)
- Theatre Three will host a food and personal care items drive to help the Open Cupboard Pantry at Infant Jesus Church on Sunday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.
