- Port Jefferson Earl L. Vandermeulen High School student-musician Katherine Ranjbar performed at Carnegie Hall as part of its grand prize concerto competition. Port Jefferson school district Director of Music and Fine Arts Dr. Michael Caravello congratulates Ranjbar on her outstanding musical achievement. (Press Release Desk)
- On March 9, gunshots were heard outside of a home in Port Jefferson Station just before 11 p.m. A George Street resident called the police and bullets holes were found outside of the house. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made. (Patch)
- A NYPD officer from Long Island wrote a book inspired by her daughter who has Down syndrome. Jessica Ardolino, who lives in East Setauket, said that the idea come after watching her older daughter trying to teach sign language to her sister who has Down syndrome. "Outstanding Olivia Says I Love You" is selling for $10 on Amazon. (News 12 Bronx)
- Stony Brook University will host a teach-in about the war in Ukraine on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The event is hosted by the Marie Colvin Center for International Reporting. Stony Brook journalism instructor and Sunday Times of London reporter Sarah Baxter will be moderators and the event will be held in Frey Hall, Room 100, Stony Brook University West Campus. (Patch)
- Port Jefferson Middle School Science Olympiad team won third place at the Suffolk County Regional Division B Science Olympiad Competition. The event was held at Candlewood Middle School where students competed against 30 teams in events that tested their study skills in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and scientific problem-solving.
