- A Suffolk nonprofit plans to sell site in Port Jefferson to recoup back taxes and electrify LIRR branch. About $17 million in unpaid taxes would be reimbursed and part of the property will be set aside for a possible railroad yard or train station, according to officials. The plan also may relocate the Port Jefferson train station and electrify the Long Island Rail Road's Huntington branch. (Newsday - Subscription Needed)
- Theatre Three in Port Jefferson is well known for spectacular plays but, productions are so much more than just actors. There's a group of professionals behind scenes working hard to make sure makeups, clothes, lights, sounds and much more are all put together. - An event on Dec. 10 celebrated the peak of weeks of toy drives around Brookhaven Town that resulted in thousands of toys being donated for needy local children. During the INTERFACE Holiday Toy Drive event, children ranging in age from infant to 15-years-old were helped. In 2020, despite the challenges of COVID-19, the Holiday Toy Drive provided toys for 1,181 families in need, including 6,337 children. The Town expected to pass that total this year. (LongIsland.com)
- The Midnight on Main St. in Patchogue is canceled because of COVID-19 issues. The big celebration was scheduled for Friday, New Year’s Eve, in Patchogue but event organizers announced the cancellation on Tuesday. (Greater Long Island)

- "Suffolk police officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired in Gordon Heights on Tuesday. A call came in that shots were fired on Granny Road at about 9 p.m., and when police arrived, officers were 'unable to find any indication that a shooting had taken place,' police said. No further details were released." (Port Jefferson Patch)
