Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Racing Festival Is Set For Sept. 16

There will be Asian performances, retail and cultural vendors, and food trucks at the harbor.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The 9th annual Dragon Boat Festival will kick off in Port Jefferson on Sept. 16.

The opening ceremony is at 8:30 a.m. with races starting at 9 a.m., and the closing ceremony at 5 p.m.

The festival will have Asian performances, retailers and cultural vendors, and food trucks.
Performances will include an authentic Shaolin Kung Fu Lion Dance, Thai boxing and martial arts demonstrations, traditional Chinese songs, and local choral groups.

Children’s activities will include face painting, origami, crafts, and a visit from a Bearded Dragon and other reptiles from the Center for Environmental and Educational Discovery.
