PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Since joining the Port Jefferson Board of Trustees five weeks ago, Lauren Sheprow was assigned by Mayor Margot Garant to serve as trustee to the newly established Communications Commission, the Recreation Department and the Port Jefferson Country Club Social/Hospitality Commission.

“I was grateful for the responsibility and trust she put in me to work on these three areas,” Sheprow told Patch. “I have been spending time on getting to know the Village staff and administrators who work within these areas and their scope of responsibilities.”

Sheprow hopes to bring staff, Port Jefferson residents and key stakeholders together to help identify the priorities and opportunities in the three areas she will be responsible for.

“I've been working on bringing together passionate participants in forming committees that will offer feedback on how these areas can be improved or built upon,” Sheprow said. “So my intent as a trustee is to work to keep my fellow trustees informed on the progress I'm making, and to support the mayor on initiatives that are important to Village residents.”

Sheprow replaces Bruce Miller, who had served on the board since 2014. He is now transitioning into Village government, according to TBRnewsmedia.com.
