Here are the top four stories in Port Jefferson today:

  1. Brookhaven town board approved the Oak Street Subdivision Project in Port Jefferson Station. Residents requested a study of the area due to possible contamination of the Lawrence Aviation site. Still, the plan to build thirty-three houses in the area will start without an environmental analysis. (News 12 Brooklyn)
  2. The environmental impacts possibly caused by the Port Jefferson Village landfill at Harbor Hills are being questioned by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The Long Island landfill regulates the site. However, Stony Brook University researcher, David Tonjes, said the place lacks a liner system, which is required in all landfills. (TBR News Media)
  3. Port Jefferson Toast Coffeehouse moved to a new location but the Revival by Toast arrived! The spot is now open, serving food and wine for night owls. Terry Scarlatos, who also owns the last Toast Coffeehouse, is the owner and said this is a "comeback" idea since his Toast Coffeehouse once was Toast At Night. (Greater Port Jefferson)
  4. A hate crime-related arrest has been made at Eastern Suffolk BOCES Sequoya High school. A 14-year-old was charged after threatening to kill members of the LGBTO community last week, according to the police. The case was brought to Suffolk County Family Court. Due to her age, her identity can not be released. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
