Tree Falls Through Long Island House, Hits Electric Meter

A tree fell through a home and hit an electric meter.

A tree fell through a home in Terryville and struck an electric meter, but didn't cause any serious damage.

The Terryville Fire Department was called to a home on Oasis Place at 4 p.m. this week after the tree fell.

According to fire officials, the tree was resting on the electric meter but firefighters also found that the gas main was in close proximity.

Firefighters used rescue jacks to support the tree allowing them to safely remove it from the home, fire officials said.

With the report of rain coming to the area, tarps were placed over the roof to prevent any water damage to the home.

The tree was removed within one-hour by the crews from Engines 2, 12 and Rescue 24.
