Woman Hit By Box Truck In Coram: Police

The 53-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was hit early Wednesday, police say.

CORAM, NY — A pedestrian is in critical condition after she was involved in a crash Wednesday morning in Coram, Suffolk police said.

The 53-year-old Coram woman was in the median of Route 112 near Barone Drive when she stepped into the southbound lane and was hit by the driver of a 2018 Isuzu box truck at 4:55 a.m., police said. Schmidt was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The truck driver, a 21-year-old Mount Sinai man, and his passenger were not injured, police said.
