PORT JEFFERSON, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Reason for recognition:
Rebecca created Suffolk County Open Source Medical Supplies early in the pandemic and organized a volunteer army of sewers, 3D printers, and other creators to make and donate masks, and other personal protective equipment to healthcare workers and all essential workers.

One thing to know:
Rebecca is one of those rare selfless people who inspires others to take action in the face of fear and hopelessness. She inspires by reminding others that no act of kindness or contribution is too small.
