Community Synagogue Saves Frozen Purim in Port Washington
Families at home could watch and sing along as 'Rabbi Z' performed the 'Frozen'-themed Purim Shpiel and Megillah Reading.
As Port Washington braced for Thursday’s snowstorm, Rabbi Irwin Zeplowitz – or “Rabbi Z,” as he’s known to many – single-handedly saved Purim for Community Synagogue congregants.
Despite the cancellation of the popular Purim Carnival due to what may be the snowiest Purim in history, Rabbi Z continued with the Jewish tradition of performing a Purim Shpiel and Megillah Reading. He lip-synced and sang along with a snowstorm version of Disney’s popular “Frozen” song “Let it Go” and followed up with the reading of the Megillah to an empty synagogue. The Shpiel and Megillah Reading were captured via live streaming and recorded for the entire Synagogue to view.
