'They Lost Everything': GoFundMe Created For Port Washington Family Displaced In House Fire
No injuries were reported, but the house was deemed uninhabitable, fire marshals say.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A GoFundMe has been launched to support the three residents displaced in a Port Washington house fire on Thursday.
The fire left the home uninhabitable, and no injuries to the three adult occupants were reported, fire marshals said.
According to fire marshals, Nassau County Firecom received 911 calls reporting a house fire at 7:13 p.m. on Thursday. There were 50 firefighters at the scene, fire marshals said.

Friends of Melissa Freda organized the GoFundMe, which has raised over $3K.
The organizer shared on the page: "Hi everyone, I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. On Thursday, December 11th, our friend Melissa Freda Hillie and her parents' home was tragically destroyed in a fire. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, but they lost everything."

She added that the family is in need of assistance from their community.
"The funds will go toward immediate housing and basic needs. Any amount makes a difference. Thank you for your support."
