Lane Closures, LIRR Riders Stranded At Platform: LI Patch AM Traffic

ON THE ROAD...

NASSAU COUNTY

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., construction crews will close an eastbound lane along I-495, between Exit 37 - Willis Avenue and Exit 38 - Northern State Parkway

ON THE LIRR...

As of 9 a.m., trains are running on or close to schedule on all LIRR branches, except the Ronkonkoma and Montauk lines.

Per the LIRR: "The 7:40 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 9:01 a.m. is canceled in Hicksville due to equipment trouble."

Riders in Hicksville are encouraged to take the train that's due at Penn Station at 9:17 a.m. and transfer to Jamaica for service to Atlantic Terminal.

Earlier this morning, the 5:59 a.m. train traveling from Port Jefferson to Long Island City was canceled in Jamaica due to equipment trouble. The cancellation stranded westbound riders, with one customer on Twitter complaining that the LIRR waited "20 minutes to make an announcement that the train was canceled while (they) stood on the platform."

Over on the Montauk line, the 5:39 a.m. train traveling from Montauk to Long Island City is operating 10 minutes late through Mineola due to signal trouble near Speonk.
