Fire Tears Through North Shore Univ. Hospital's Construction Site

MANHASSET, NY — Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire that broke out Thursday at a construction site adjacent to North Shore Manhasset Hospital.

Nassau County police say officers responded to 300 Community Drive shortly before 1 a.m. The Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department extinguished the fire with the help of surrounding departments.

The area under construction was not occupied and no injuries were reported, according to officials. But the fire temporarily closed down Community Drive between Northern Boulevard and the north service road of the Long Island Expressway. It has since reopened.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad Detectives were called to the scene of the fire. An investigation is underway.
