North Hempstead Board Unanimously Backs Plandome Road Sewer Project

MANHASSET, NY — The North Hempstead Town Board took a significant step last week in unanimously approving a resolution to show its support for the Plandome Road sewer project in Manhasset.
The project aims to provide a modern wastewater treatment system for the area, which the town said Tuesday will greatly benefit the community.
Council Member Veronica Lurvey brought forward the resolution at the request of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District.

The sewer project will be partially funded by a $5 million grant secured by Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti.
Lurvey said she was proud to support the project.

"This is an important initiative that will benefit our community by providing a safe and efficient wastewater treatment system," she said in a news release Tuesday.
"We are fortunate to have a wonderful partner in the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, and I look forward to working with them further as this project progresses."
Steve Reiter, commissioner of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District, expressed gratitude for the board's support.
"This resolution is a significant step forward for the Plandome Road sewer main project," he said. "We are grateful for the Town Board's support and are committed to working with the community to ensure the project's success. The District will now begin the design and engineering phase for the Plandome Road sewer main project."
