• Port Washington Schools begin budget talks with focus on aging facilities, long-term planning (longislandpress.com) — Port Washington school officials have begun 2026–27 budget talks with a strong focus on aging buildings, outlining more than $140 million in long-term facility needs and a proposed $4.4 million capital transfer. Key projects include major work at Manorhaven and Daly elementary schools, while parents are also pressing the board to prioritize evidence-based literacy instruction and long-range planning. 
• Port Washington snack maker recalls products over lack of milk allegeren labeling (newsday.com) — A Port Washington snack maker, Karison Food and Snacks Inc., has recalled five Indian snack products because milk allergens weren’t listed on the labels, posing serious risks for people with milk allergies. The 12-ounce items, all expiring Aug. 29, can be returned for a full refund, and the company is answering questions at its Port Washington phone line.
