Pool Hours Extended In North Hempstead Due To Heat Wave
The Town of North Hempstead is extending its pool hours this week as a heat wave brings high temperatures to the region.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — To help residents beat the summer heat, the Town of North Hempstead is extending its pool hours to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

- Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day
- Wearing clothes that are light-colored, lightweight, loose, and absorbent (cotton is a good choice)
- Eating fruits and vegetables to replace nutrients
- Wearing a wide-brimmed hat when going outdoors
- Taking cool baths and showers once or twice a day
- Limiting caffeine and alcoholic drinks
- Checking the daily heat index in the newspaper to alert you to the risk of heat-related illness
