Port Washington Businesses Urged To Be On Lookout For This Scam
At least one business has been targeted by scammers, according to the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Port Washington Chamber of Commerce is warning businesses to be on the lookout for a scam that has already targeted at least one company.
"One of our local businesses received a notice that they have been selected as the winner of the '2022 Best of Port Washington Awards,'" Chamber Executive Director Bobbie Polay said in a Wednesday morning email to business owners. "They were asked to pay for the cost of the Award. Please be advised that this is a scam and we urge you not to respond."
It is not immediately known which business received the notice. But Polay says anyone who gets one should forward it to the Chamber of Commerce and alert the Port Washington Police Department.
