Port Washington Library Secures $10,000 In State Funding
The funding will "play a crucial role in shaping the education of children in our community," an official said.

The Port Washington Public Library recently received $10,000 in state funding to support its events and programs for children and members of the community.
The library offers many services, including author discussions and film screenings, educational programs for teenagers and seniors, as well as "English as a Second Language" classes.
The library also received $118,000 in state funding to renovate and expand its children's library earlier this year.

“The Port Washington Public Library is a central community center for residents of all ages to explore a wide variety of service and programs beyond reading materials.” Sen. Elaine Phillips, who helped secure the funding, said in a press release. “As someone who recognizes the great importance of our local libraries, it was an honor to secure this funding, which will help play a crucial role in shaping the education of children in our community.”
Library director Nancy Curtin thanked Phillips for securing the funding. “Your work in restoring library aid and increasing capital funding in the state budget is greatly appreciated," she said. "Thank you for your support of public libraries.”
