Port Washington School To Perform Tony-Award Winning 'Newsies'
"Newsies" is based on the 1992 film and was inspired by a true story. Here's how you can see it.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Disney's Tony Award-winning play "Newsies" exited Broadway six years ago, but Port Washington residents who missed it will have another chance to see it, albeit a little closer to home — and with a slightly younger cast.
Schreiber Theatre Company in the Port Washington Union Free School announced this week that "Newsies" will play Feb. 28, Feb. 29 and March 1 in the Paul D. Schreiber High School auditorium. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students and complimentary for seniors. Tickets are available for purchase on Paul D. Schreiber High School website.
"Newsies" is based on the 1992 film and was inspired by a true story. In the play, plucky and impoverished kids sell newspapers for major New York City publishers at the turn of the 20th century. The kids, led by the charismatic Jack Kelly, rise up and strike when Joseph Pulitzer, a greedy newspaper magnate, unfairly raises their distribution prices.
