$2,050 Crown Heights Apartments Listed As 'Affordable'

Only New Yorkers earning between $70,000 and $168,000 are eligible to apply for these homes on Brownsville's border, records show

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN -- New "affordable" apartments on the border of Crown Heights and Brownsville will cost residents up to $2,300-per-month, city records show.

New Yorkers must earn more than $70,000 every year to apply for one of six available units at 1543 and 1547 East New York Ave. that became available Friday on the NYC Housing Connect website.

A single $2,050-per-month one-bedroom and two $2,300-per-month two-bedrooms are up for grabs at 1543 East New York Ave. for households earning between $70,286 and $146,510 annually, city records show.

Next door, three three-bedroom apartments that also go for $2,030-a-month are available to households earning between $78,858 and $168,220 every year, records show.

Yidel Kohn of 1543 East New York LLC is the owner of the four-story, 7,049-square-foot complex and Michael Avramdies is the architect on record, according to the Department of Buildings.

Building amenities include a laundry room with machines residents must pay to use, records show. The apartments will remain on the affordable housing market until March, 11.
