5 (Free) Things: Alternatives to Capitalism Workshops and 'Battle for Brooklyn' Showing

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event highlights you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need to think about alternatives to capitalism. Head to where there are lectures all day on the topic of , on such topics as starting a worker cooperative, credit unions and CSAs. Plus, there's a free screening of the Atlantic Yards documentary "" at 8 p.m. 721 Franklin Ave. bet. Park and Sterling, Free. 

2. You need a good film. If you've already seen "Battle for Brooklyn," head to the  for its . This week it's "Grey Matter" ("Matiêre Grise"), about a filmmaker's who goes to a loan shark to finance his movie about the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide on a brother and sister. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 6:30 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. No kids events at the Central Library today, so head to the   for  at 10:45 a.m. or Story Play from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 25 4th Ave. at Pacific St. Free. See our for more options. 

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no planned service changes affecting Prospect Heights stations today, however you should note that between midnight and 5 a.m. Manhattan-bound Q trains are running through the tunnel, according to the MTA, so leave extra time.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. You do. Alternate side won't be suspended again until Thursday, May 17 for Solemnity of the Ascension, according to the NYCDOT.
