500-Foot Pacific Park Tower To Rise Behind Barclays Center
Construction will soon begin on the newest building in the Pacific Park mega development in Prospect Heights.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Construction is about to begin on a 500-foot tall tower, slated to rise over the Barclays Center, as part of the ongoing expansion of mega-development Pacific Park, developers announced Tuesday.
A new apartment complex will be developed at 18 Sixth Ave. that will bring 859 new apartments to Prospect Heights, according to developers from Greenland Forest City Partners and The Brodsky Organization.
The tower, designed by Perkins Eastman, will rise on the corner of Atlantic and Sixth avenues and include 258 units of mandatory inclusionary housing, according to a press release. Construction is expected to be begin in the next few weeks and wrap up in 2022.

This is the most recent development, and the largest, to go up in Pacific Park, the 22-acre development complex on the border of Prospect Heights and Fort Greene, that was once also known as Atlantic Yards.
Pacific Park includes a luxury condominium complex at 550 Vanderbilt Ave., two "affordably priced" rental buildings with nearly 600 apartments at 535 Carlton Ave. and 38 Sixth Ave., and the world's tallest modular building at 461 Dean St.

When completed, Pacific Park will include 6,430 apartments, eight acres of publicly accessible open space, and commercial spaces for Brooklyn businesses such as the ceramics studio BKLYN CLAY, Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, and a new New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital branch at 38 Sixth Ave.
