'Affordable' Apartments Near Crown Heights Require $62K, $70K Salary

The Linden Boulevard and Park Place complexes have 23 total units up for grabs.

BROOKLYN, NY — More than 20 "affordable" apartments are up for grabs in and near Crown Heights, but only for those making at least $62,000 per year, records show.

Two complexes — one on Park Place and another on Linden Boulevard in Flatbush — recently hit the Department of Housing Preservation and Development's affordable housing lottery for those making at least 130 percent of the area median income, records show.

For the Park Place building, which was also on the lottery earlier this year, that means applicants should make at least $62,572 per year. There are three one-bedroom spots up for grabs in that complex, which is found between Howard and Ralph avenues. Rent will cost $1,825 per month for each, records show.

In the Linden Boulevard building, applicants should make a minimum of $70,286 per year, records show.

There are more than 20 studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedrooms spots up for grabs in that complex.

Monthly rent prices range from $2,050 for a studio, $2,250 for a one bedroom, $2,500 for a two bedroom and $2,800 for a three bedroom, according to the listing.

The Linden Boulevard building is pet friendly and includes washer and dryers in unit, a gym, an outdoor terrace and a rooftop terrace.

Both buildings are among several in Brooklyn on the affordable housing lottery.

Others include a newly-added complex on Linden Boulevard, a Vanderbilt Avenue building, an East New York development and several spots in buildings in Southern Brooklyn.
