'Affordable' Apartments Near Prospect Heights Require $65K Salary

BROOKLYN, NY — Thirteen apartments on the Prospect Heights border have hit the city's affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $65,000 per year, records show.

The studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom spots are found in a building on Waverly Street and Atlantic Avenue that includes covered parking, bike storage lockers, a shared laundry room, a gym and a rooftop terrace, according to the listing.

They will go to those making at least 130 percent of the area median income, or at least $65,315 per year for the studio units. Applicants for the one-bedroom spots should make at least $69,390 per year and the two-bedroom spots will go to those making at least a combined income of $85,715.

For the five studio apartments, renters will pay $1,905 per month. The one-bedrooms spots will cost $2,023 per month and the two-bedroom spots will go for $2,500 per month, the listing shows.

The Waverly Street building joins several other Brooklyn buildings on the affordable housing lottery, including one on Gates Avenue in Bed-Stuy and another on Fulton Street.

A building on Church Avenue also just recently joined the lottery.

In that building, there are four one-bedroom spots up for grabs and applicants should make at least $61,000 per year.
