'Affordable' Apartments Require $64K Salary In Brooklyn
The new building on Lenox Road has 29 units up for grabs, but only those making at least $64,000 a year, records show.

BROOKLYN, NY — More than two dozen apartments have hit the affordable housing lottery in Flatbush, but only for those making at least $64,000 per year, records show.
The 29 studio, one bedroom and two bedroom spots are found in a new complex at 100 Lenox Rd. and joined the Department of Housing Preservation and Development lottery on Tuesday.
They will each go to those making at least 130 percent of the area median income, which means at least a $64,286 salary for the studio spots.

The 15 one-bedroom units up for grabs will require a $70,286 minimum salary and the two-bedroom units require a combined $82,115 minimum salary, according to the listing.
The studio units will cost $2,050 per month, the one-bedrooms $1,875 per month and the two bedrooms $2,395 per month, records show.

The Lenox Road complex, built last year, replaced two freestanding homes on the corner of Bedford Avenue, according to Brownstoner. The building is eight stories and includes a total of 95 units, according to the outlet.
Each unit includes a washer and dryer, a dishwasher and access to the building's gym, business center, lounge, rooftop terrace and bike storage, according to the listing.
Applicants should apply by May 15.
The Bed-Stuy building is one of several in Brooklyn currently on the affordable housing lottery.
Other buildings include a massive development in Greenpoint, a Kent Avenue complex in Williamsburg, the Vital Brookdale complex in Brownsville and an East New York property known as Chestnut Commons.
