B41 Is Slowest Bus In Brooklyn, Transit Group Says

Nearby bus routes among the city's slowest, most unreliable.

Have you spent long hours sitting on the B41 as it runs through Brooklyn, wondering if you're even getting anywhere? Chances are, you're not.

The Straphangers Campaign released its "Pokey and Schleppie" awards Thursday, to the city's slowest and most unreliable buses. While no Brooklyn buses took the overall awards, Fort Greene and Prospect Heights were both close to two of the most troublesome routes in the borough.

The B41, which runs from Downtown Brooklyn to Bergen Beach, had an average speed of 5.7 miles per hour, making it the slowest in the borough. The route runs along the edges of Fort Greene and Prospect Heights.

The B44, which starts at the Williamsburg Bridge and goes to Sheepshead Bay, running through Bed-Stuy, was the borough's most unreliable.

In a release, group members said they were anxious to see what changes Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will make to help speed up buses around the outer boroughs.
