Bedford-Union Armory Redevelopment Plans Filed, Records Show
The city has filed plans to begin redeveloping the Bedford-Union Armory, records show.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The city filed plans to begin redeveloping the Bedford-Union Armory on Tuesday, records show.
The Economic Development Corporation and Marvel Architects applied for permits to build 400 apartments in a 15-story tower at 1579 Bedford Ave., according to Department of Building records.
The city promised to designate 250 units as “affordable rentals,” open to people who make between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income, after local activists spent months protesting initial plans that called for luxury apartments.

The Bedford Armory recreational center will also sell discounted memberships at $10 a month for adults and $8 a month for kids who live in the community, said officials.
