BK Man Shot 3 Years Ago Dies, Shooter Could Face Murder Charge: NYPD

The death this week of Romel Jules, 24 — who was shot in April 2021 — has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – A 24-year-old man, shot three years ago on a Brooklyn street, died this week, police said.

Wednesday's death of Romel Jules, of Crown Heights, has been ruled a homicide by the city's medical examiner, NYPD officials said.

The homicide finding means that accused shooter Maurice Williams, who was arrested months after the 2021 shooting, could face a murder charge, the New York Daily News first reported.

Police found Jules early April 25, 2021, unconscious and unresponsive inside a Volkswagen Jetta parked at Nostrand Avenue and Montgomery Street, officials said.

Jules, who had a gunshot wound in his upper back, was rushed to Kings County Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

The gunshot ultimately took Jules' life nearly three years later, police said.
