City Moves Forward With Affordable Crown Heights Apt Complex

City officials have begun filing plans for a 45-unit affordable housing complex near the Weeksville Heritage Center, records show.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The city hopes to build a new affordable housing development on an empty lot near the Weeksville Heritage Center, records show.

An eight-story apartment complex could rise on Prospect Place and Buffalo Avenue after the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development filed its request last month to build on an empty city-owned lot.

The 32,325-square-foot apartment building would bring 45 affordably priced units, 20 of which would be reserved for New York seniors, to the land owned by the city since 1978, city records show.
