Crown Heights Man Fatally Shot Teen At Party, Gets Sent To Prison: DA
Javone Duncan, 24, shot and killed a 17-year-old girl after she rejected his advances back in 2022, prosecutors said.
BROOKLYN, NY — A 24-year-old Crown Heights man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for fatally shooting a 17-year-old girl at a party in 2022, prosecutors announced.
Javone Duncan, was sentenced Tuesday by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Heidi Cesare after he was convicted of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of second-degree criminal possession following a jury trial back in March, prosecutors said.
On Oct. 10, 2022, Duncan pointed a loaded gun at Raelynn Cameron and pulled the trigger, fatally shooting her in the chest, prosecutors said.

Duncan, who fled the scene, had shot Cameron after she rejected his advances, according to prosecutors said.
Duncan was arrested more than two weeks later on Oct. 26.

"This senseless shooting took the life of a young woman with a bright future. Today’s sentence holds the defendant accountable for his actions and is a measure of justice for the victim’s grieving family,” District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.
