Luxury Condos Near BBG Hit Market As Locals Fight Off Developers
Sales have begun at 111 Montgomery St. near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where locals are working hard to curtail development.
CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Sales have begun at 111 Montgomery, the neighborhood's first condominium development, situated at the heart of a controversial development boom near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
The 163-unit condo complex at 111 Montgomery St., near Mary Pinkett Avenue, is expected to bring an influx of new residents seeking high-end amenities into the neighborhood at a time when locals are raising concerns about increased development.
Prices begin at $550,000 for the apartments, which include kitchens fitted with Bosch appliances and Ceasarstone countertops, bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in showers, and walls painted with an eco-friendly finish.

The 12-story building — designed by architect Fischer + Makooi — includes studios through three-bedroom apartments, a fitness center, rooftop terrace, community garden, on-site parking and doorman services.
Co-developers LIVWRK and CIM Group plan to sell the 163 unites for a total $150 million, The RealDeal reported in 2018.

“We are introducing the only opportunity to own a brand-new home in a full-service, amenities building in Crown Heights,” said LIVWRK CEO Asher Abehsera.

Sales launched at the new development just weeks after locals raised concerns about two 39-story towers proposed to go up at 960 Franklin Ave., just around the corner from 111 Montgomery, and the effect they would have on local infrastructure.
Locals have also rallied against two proposed 16-story buildings at 40 Crown St., adjacent to 111 Montgomery, and 931 Carroll St. about two blocks away, according to Curbed. A judge halted construction in April to examine how the buildings would affect the local environment.
