Man Knocks Over Cops With His Car After Brooklyn Traffic Stop: NYPD
Two officers were sent to the hospital after the traffic stop near Prospect Park, police said.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — Two Brooklyn police officers landed in the hospital on Thursday when a man pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt ran into them with his car, according to police.
The NYPD officers had pulled over Anjuwon Butcher near Empire Boulevard and Flatbush Avenue just before 7 p.m. when the 25-year-old driver accelerated towards them, knocking both cops to the ground, police said.
Butcher got out of the car and tried to run away on foot, but was caught shortly after when the officers called for back-up, police said.

Both injured officers were taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and have since been treated and released, police said Friday morning.
Butcher, who lives in Flatbush, was charged with assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless endangerment, along with the original traffic violations, police said.

The crash came just hours after another NYPD officer was hurt in Brooklyn.
In that incident, a detective in Brownsville's 73rd Precinct was driving his cruiser on Pitkin Avenue near Legion Street when a man opened fire nearby, hitting the police car and injuring the detective's arm, police said. The officer was also sent to the hospital and is expected to survive.
