The Fountains — a six building, $425-million complex — officially opened its doors this week in East New York, the governor announced.

BROOKLYN, NY — A massive affordable housing project bringing more than 1,000 new homes wrapped up this week in Brooklyn, according to the governor.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday that all six buildings in a complex known as The Fountains have been completed, launching 1,163 new affordable homes in East New York.
The $425 million project, which has been in the works since 2017, includes 22,000 square feet of commercial space, a new public plaza, homes for seniors and nearly 200 homes for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

"The Fountains are the embodiment of our commitment to provide equal opportunity for each and every New Yorker, and this complex goes above and beyond to provide quality, affordability, and access to the resources needed to live healthy and successful lives," Hochul said. "This mixed-use development provides housing, services, and amenities that will reenergize the community and build a brighter future for all, but especially for our most vulnerable residents."
