'Pacific Park' In Prospect Heights Renting More Low-Income Apartments: How To Apply
The affordable housing lottery for 38 Sixth Avenue will kick off this Friday.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Developers Greenland Forest City Partners will offer an affordable housing lottery for their apartment building 38 Sixth Avenue, which is part of the Pacific Park 22-acre mega-project, Curbed reports. Pacific Park Brooklyn is a $4.9 billion project that will include approximately 6 million square feet of residential space, spread out over 14 buildings with 6,430 units of affordable and market-rate housing.
The affordable housing lottery for 38 Sixth Avenue will kick off this Friday, and will be open for 60 days after that. Interested residents must fill out an application on Housing Connect to be considered.
Brooklynites living in Community Boards 2, 3, 6, and 8 will get first-pick on half of the apartments. Seven percent of the apartments will also be reserved for people with disabilities.

“The people of this city need affordable housing built in real time. And make no mistake: affordable
housing at Pacific Park is on the move," said NYC Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen in a press release.
The building is slated to open in the summer of 2017.

SHoP Architects designed 38 Sixth Avenue on Sixth and Dean Streets, which is in the same block as the Barclays Center.
The 23-story building has 303 units for low-, moderate- and middle-income households, according to the press release. The lowest rent is $532/month for a studio, and the highest is a three-bedroom unit for $3,695/month.
The apartments are modern and accommodating with white oak flooring, quartz countertops with ceramic backspashes and an integrated dishwasher. 38 Sixth Avenue residents will gain access the building's gym, yoga studio, children's play area, rooftop terrace, underground parking, pet grooming center, residents' lounge and more. Park Brooklyn’s health care center and retail stores will also be housed in the building.
There have been two affordable housing lotteries so far for buildings in Pacific Park. 461 Dean Street received 84,000 applications for 181 apartments, while 535 Carlton Avenue got 95,00 0 applications for 298 apartments, Curbed reports.
