Police Blotter: Asked to Prove Disability, Woman Whacks Bus Driver With Cane

A 51-year-old woman was charged with hitting a 57-year-old bus driver with a cane after he asked her for ID proving she qualified for a reduced rate due to a disability.

The woman got on the bus at 10 a.m. on July 14. After the 57-year-old driver asked for the ID, the woman started being “verbally aggressive using profanity towards passengers and bus driver,” before whacking the driver with the cane, causing “substantial pain and swelling.”
She was arrested 24 minutes later on Classon Avenue between Bergen and Dean, according to a police report.

Inside Job on AC Heist?
A factory employee reported that someone stole a $300 air conditioner from the building, located on Pacific Street between Classon and Franklin avenues sometime between July 7 and 9. There were no signs of forced entry and several employees have keys, according to a police report.
House Guests Suspected in MacBook Theft
A 36-year-old woman reported that her MacBook worth $600 was taken from her apartment while visitors were staying there, sometime between July 6 and 7. There was no sign of forced entry at the apartment, located on St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington, according to a police report
Man Found Injured on Franklin Avenue
A 22-year-old man was found with a slashed his forehead and neck at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Prospect Place at 7:10 a.m. on June 28. However the man refused to tell police his name or any details about the assault, according to a police report.
