Thief Maces Bar Bouncer While Stealing Bags

A 36-year-old man was charged with trying to steal two bags from Franklin Park and then spraying mace at the bouncer who stopped him.

The man grabbed the bags at about 12:15 a.m. on June 27 at the bar, at 618 St. Johns Place at Franklin Avenue. When the bouncer stopped him the man threatened to spray him with mace if he called 911. It’s not clear what the bouncer did next, but the thief then threatened to kill the bouncer and sprayed the mace. In the bags were $9,480 worth of goods including a MacBook Air laptop and cash, according to a police report.

Shots Fired into St. Johns Place Door

Someone fired four shots into a 24-year-old man’s apartment door and fled. There were no injuries from the incident, which took place on June 25 at 11:55 p.m. at a home on St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington, according to a police report.

 

Bike Theft

A 67-year-old woman reported that a $200 Raleigh bicycle was stolen from in front of her home, on Park Place just off Underhill, after granddaughter left it in the front yard unlocked. The theft took place on June 28 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:38 p.m. , according to a police report.
