Police Blotter: Woman Fends Off Mugger and Apartment Scissor Chase

Woman Fends off Mid-Afternoon Mugger

A 34-year-old woman was walking into her apartment building lobby when a man followed her in. Once inside he grabbed her and said, “It’s going to be ok. Nothing will happen. Just give me your bag,” according to a police report.

The woman began to scream and the man let her go and took off without the purse and the woman was uninjured.

The incident took place at 4:20 p.m. on Monday, May 14 on St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington avenues.

 

Apartment Scissor Chase

A 33-year-old woman was chased and threatened by her roommate’s girlfriend.

The woman was at home just after noon when she heard a knock on the door, and then saw the girlfriend rush in brandishing a pair of scissors.

The girlfriend said “I’m going to kill you,” and then chased the woman around the apartment until the victim managed to get into her room, lock the door and call the cops. 

The incident took place on Thursday, May 17 at 12:15 p.m., according to a police report.

 

B41 iPhone Snatch

A 63-year-old woman was riding the B41 bus when, at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, someone grabbed her iphone and got off the bus, according to a police report.

 

Van Stolen

A 52-year-old man reported that someone stole his 1995 Dodge van from where it was parked overnight between May 16 and 17 on Pacific Street near Grand Avenue. The man said the van was worth about $500, was unregistered and had no plates, according to a police report.

 

Gravity Knife Arrest

A 35-year-old man was arrested after cops saw him holding an illegal gravity knife on Classon Avenue between Bergen and St. Marks at 9:18 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. After the arrest, cops discovered that the man already had an open arrest warrant for another crime, according to a police report.
