A vote last week by the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission gave the OK to a plan to build a new townhouse on the lot and close the gap, the Brooklyn Eagle first reported.

The lot sits within a historic preservation district and new construction must go through a permit process. The developers' design firm Citiscape Architectural Consulting proposed a three-story, two-family townhouse that matches the style of other homes on the block, according to records.

The townhouse will be about 15 feet wide, according to the plans.

The commission approved the plans "with modifications," records state. The developers have to lower the building and refine the facade, according to the Brooklyn Eagle.

When finished, the building will close a gap on the block that has been there since at least 1940, according to the planning materials.
