Far Rockaway Man Sentenced In 2018 Fatal Shooting: DA

Joaquin Bullock, 35, was sentenced to life in prison without parole after shooting Dion Smith on Aug. 18, 2018, prosecutors said.

QUEENS — A man from Queens was sentenced after he shot dead a 28-year-old in Far Rockaway four years ago, the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Monday.

Joaquin Bullock, 35, was sentenced to life in prison without parole after shooting Dion Smith on Aug. 18, 2018, in an alley on Brookhaven Avenue, leading to his death, prosecutors said.

In 2018, surveillance video caught Bullock fighting with several men, including Smith, on Beach 25 Street and Brookhaven Avenue before he left, Katz said.

Bullock later returned, grabbed Smith, and took him to an alley before he fatally shot him in the chest, the district attorney said.
