The fire started at a building on 151st Avenue and 84th Street in Lindenwood around 11:20 a.m.
The fire quickly intensified to a three-alarm fire, according to the FDNY.

140 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene.
The fire seemed to have started on the fifth floor and spread to the top floor of the building, FDNY officials said.

It took about two hours for firefighters to get the blaze under control.
No civilians were hurt in the fire, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Fire marshals will determine the cause of the fire, and the Department of Buildings is currently evaluating the state of the building.
