  1. Seven-year-old Dolma Naadhun was struck and killed by an SUV while crossing the street near her home in Astoria. The driver, who remained at the scene, did not come to a complete stop despite a stop sign at the intersection. The tragedy has led parents and residents in the area to call for more traffic lights in place of stop signs to make the streets safer, and a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses.   2. A deli owner in Queens was shot by a man with a pistol and an assault rifle while he was working behind the counter; the attack was captured on video. Sam Kaid, 47, was grazed in the head and hit in the wrist, while a 27-year-old man was also shot in the wrist. Despite his injuries, Kaid survived the ordeal and is recovering in the hospital.   3. Volunteers at the Deshi Senior Center in Ozone Park collected donations for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, which included clothes, blankets, and coats, to be sorted through and shipped overseas to help those in need. Angela Nocerino, the vice president of the Ozone Park Residents Block Association, stated that they were assisting the world as the earthquake has been devastating. (CBS New York)
