QUEENS, NY —A man was killed after he reportedly tried to cross a section of the Belt Parkway in Queens on Friday, police said.

The man was struck on the parkway near Lefferts Boulevard by a Lincoln SUV around 6 a.m., police said.

The victim was then run over and dragged several feet by a Toyota truck, police said. The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fatal crash was first reported by the New York Daily News.

It is not known at this time why the man was trying to cross the parkway.
